Squarespace form not sending email
Squarespace forms need an explicit storage destination. Without one the form still submits and still thanks the visitor, while the enquiry goes nowhere.

Why this happens
No storage destination set
Under the form's Storage settings you must add an email address, Google Drive or a connected service. A form with none accepts submissions and discards them.
Notifications going to the account owner only
The destination defaults to the account owner's address, which on agency-built sites is often the agency rather than the client.
A disconnected integration
Google Drive and Mailchimp connections expire when permissions are revoked, and the form keeps accepting submissions afterwards.
Filtered as spam at the destination
Squarespace sends from its own infrastructure, so notifications can land in spam at the receiving mailbox.
How to check it yourself
- 01Open the form block → Storage and confirm at least one destination is connected.
- 02Check the destination address is one somebody actually monitors.
- 03Reconnect any Google Drive or Mailchimp integration showing a warning.
- 04Search spam and quarantine at the receiving mailbox.
The part you cannot check once
Fixing it is the easy half. Knowing it stays fixed is the hard half.
Every cause above can come back without anyone touching the page. API keys rotate, plugins update, DNS records get edited, licences lapse. The form still renders, still accepts the enquiry, still says thank you — and nothing arrives.
FormWatcher submits an identifiable test enquiry on a schedule and confirms it actually reaches your inbox. If delivery stops, you hear about it — rather than working it out from a quiet month.
Common questions
- Where do Squarespace form submissions go by default?
- To whatever storage destination is configured on that specific form. If none is set, the submission is accepted and not retained — which is why the form appears to work.
